My first officially commissioned Art Ministry Trip was in 2012 to the Baltic country of Lithuania. I was invited by my former ministry leaders (whom I met in Scotland at the Harvest Ministry College in Glasgow). They had church planted a Vineyard church in the city of Klaipeda and were in their 8th year. Along with being pastors and missionaries (originally from New Zealand they spent time in the Philippines, Scotland, and Lithuania doing ministry), they themselves are creatives (painters, writers, authors, photographers, journalists) and welcomed the notion of me coming alongside them through creative art ministry to Vineyard Klaipeda.
I returned in 2015 for an additional trip to Vineyard Klaipeda to help train up some of their church lay leaders in creative art ministry.
During my trips in Lithuania I was able to facilitate collaborative art activities that coincided with Biblical lessons to small groups, facilitate collaborative art therapy activities to youth in an orphanage, speak and paint live in a high school classroom, lead creative arts days for larger groups, facilitate personal prayer art in small group settings, paint live and give the sermon during a church service, and engage in conversations to encourage young artists.
My experiences in Lithuania and what I've learned from my former leaders and mentors have been extremely meaningful and have shaped how I implement my Traveling Art Ministry.
